WATERLOO - Evangeline C. "Polly" Davis, 86, of Waterloo died Friday, March 17, 2006, at Allen Hospital of natural causes.

She was born March 1, 1920, in Armstrong, daughter of Jacob and Anna Marie Murray Reining. She married John Thomas Davis on Aug. 7, 1942, in Spencer. He died Dec. 18, 1967.

Mrs. Davis and her husband lived in Louisiana for several years before coming to Iowa in 1956. She was an LPN and cared for people in three states and for 17 years, retiring in 1982.

Survived by five sons, John (Pat) of Petal, Miss., William of Tucson, Ariz., Danny and Andrew (Judy), both of Waterloo, and Peter of Valley Bend, W.Va.; two daughters, Jean (Dan) Steen and Linda Roberts, both of Waterloo; 19 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ralph Reining of Laurens; and three sisters, Louise Long of Pueblo West, Colo., Alice (Charles) Barnes of Hamilton, Texas, and Virginia Holmes of Tucson.

Preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Mary; a brother, George; and three sisters, Margaret Winters, Mary Gangestead and Shirley Olmstead.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Parrott and Wood Chapel of Memories, with burial in the Garden of Memories. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial fund has been established.
