WATERLOO - Jesse Wade Patchin, 20, of Waterloo was murdered on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2005. He was born April 4, 1985, in Cedar Falls to Steve and Barb Patchin. He attended Black Hawk Elementary, Central Middle School and graduated from West High School in 2003. Jesse was a self-driven, high achiever. He participated in marching band, jazz band, show choir, concert choir, tennis and the bowling team at West High. He lettered in tennis, band and academics.
Jesse is survived by his parents; his sister, brother-in-law and two nephews, April, Blaine, Brandon and Brock Buenger of Norwalk; his fiancee, Heather Lee; grandparents, Shirley Patchin and George and Jaceil Herington, all of Waterloo; and many other family members.
Greeting Jesse in heaven were his Grandma Pat Smith, Grandpa Jack Patchin, great-grandparents Irva and Oliver Jenkins and Lois and Royce Wilson.
During his senior year, Jesse was employed by the Waterloo Community Schools in the technology department as a co-op student. He recently was employed by Carlos O'Kelley's and McDonald's in Cedar Falls.
Jesse was a member of First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls, where he joyfully sang in Choristers and the Spirit Choir. He played hand bells there for many years and accompanied the children's choir on the piano.
Jesse will be remembered by family and friends for his humor and persistence to make them laugh. His life here on Earth was a treasure that we will always cherish in our hearts.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at First United Methodist Church, 723 Washington St., Cedar Falls. A graveside service will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
