Passed Peacefully Away at 8:30 O'Clock

GILBERTVILLE, Nov. 21 -- Special to Reporter: Mrs. Elizabeth Reuter, wife of John Reuter, passed away at 8:30 o'clock Sunday evening after an illness of appendicitis and complications. Death occurred at the farm home five miles southeast of Gilbertville, where deceased had made her home for more than a score of years.

Mrs. Reuter was stricken about two months ago with an ailment that later resulted in appendicitis. She was so weakened by her previous illness that when three physicians assembled two weeks ago to perform a surgical operation, her condition was found such that it would be difficult for her to recover from the shock. No operation was held, but every other method of relief was used. She gradually grew worse and death claimed her last evening.

The lady was sixty-seven years old, and for twenty-one years had resided in Black Hawk county. During the greater portion of the time she made her home near this place and has an acquaintance extending over many miles of territory. She was an advocated of Catholicism and was a faithful member of the church here, having attended regularly until becoming bedridden.

Mrs. Elizabeth Bullesbach-Reuter was born in Germany in September, 1837, and resided there during her early life. In 1864 she was married to John Reuter. The ceremony was performed in the old country, and seventeen years later the couple set sail for America. They moved to Black Hawk county in 1883 and have since made their home here.

The lady is survived by her husband, two sons and three daughters. They are Joseph, of Waterloo; Peter, of Gilbertville; Mrs. Lena Meisch, Mrs. Mary Miller and Miss Anna Reuter, all of Gilbertville.
