WATERLOO - Robert C. "Bob" McKinstry, 79, of 1024 Vine St., died Friday, Oct. 14, 2005, in Burnsville, Minn., of natural causes.

He was born Sept. 15, 1926, in Waterloo, son of Charles S. and Bernice Edleman McKinstry. He married Jean M. Chapman on Nov. 27, 1951, in Waterloo. She died Sept. 26, 1996.

Mr. McKinstry graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1944 and received a bachelors degree in engineering from Iowa State University. He worked at National Bank of Waterloo and Homeland Bank for 42 years, retiring as assistant vice president of correspondent banking in 1996. He also served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korea War.

Survivors include a son, Stephen C. (Lisa) of Waterloo; two daughters, Kay (Steve) Elfritz of Waterloo and Ann (Charles) McKinstry-Leupke of Lakeville, Minn.; eight grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren, Brandon and Emily Johnson, Matthew, Keri, Kristen, Kelsey and Katie Elfritz, and Aaron, Cody and Jesse McKinstry-Luepke; and a brother, James E. (Colleen) of Cedar Rapids.

Preceded in death by an infant daughter, Janet McKinstry; and a brother, Richard.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Episcopal Parish, Waterloo, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Locke Funeral Home.

Memorials may be directed to the church, Allen Hospital, Junior Achievement or Park Towers Elders Inc.
