WATERLOO - Marilyn D. Balvanz, 75, of Waterloo, died Monday, April 14, 2014 at Covenant Medical Center.

She was born July 5, 1938, in Quincy, Ill., daughter of Robert and Mary Happekotte Foust. She married James R. Koweil in March 1957; he died in 1961. She married Gordon Balvanz in November 1963 in Preston, Minn.

Survived by her husband; two sons, Jay (Joanne) Koweil and Curtis (Brenda) Balvanz; two daughters, Diana (Craig) Wagner and Suzie (Henry) Shepherd; eight grandchildren, Josh (Stacy) and Megan Wagner, Morgan and Ryan Shepherd, Jared and Justin Koweil, and Madison and Carter Balvanz; and a brother, Jim (Barb) Foust.

Preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, John Foust.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Orchard Hill Church, Cedar Falls, with burial in Fairview Cemetery, Waterloo. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, and an hour before services Friday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Marilyn enjoyed cooking, family get-togethers and taking care of her family. Her husband, kids and grandkids were the joy of her life.
