Laurie Anne Sabers, 24 years old of West Des Moines, and formerly of Jesup, died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2006, in Cedar Falls, from injuries sustained in an accidental fall.

She was born Sept. 7, 1981, in Waterloo, the daughter of David Lawrence Sabers and Kathy Jolene (Sturm) Sabers. She attended school in Jesup and graduated from Jesup High School with the class of 2000. In 2004, Laurie graduated from the University of Northern Iowa at Cedar Falls, with a BA degree in Business Management and a Financial Services minor. Laurie had worked at Farmers State Bank in Waterloo, and currently was employed as an Operations Analyst at Wells Fargo Financial in Des Moines. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in West Des Moines. Laurie was a diehard UNI Panthers and Chicago Cubs fan, who loved being with family and friends.

Laurie is survived by her parents, three brothers, Luke (Beth) Sabers of Des Moines, Brock (Angie Neverman) Sabers of Jesup, and Greg Sabers of Cedar Falls, her maternal grandmother, Maye Sturm of Jesup, and several aunts and uncles, David (Mary) Sturm of Lakeland, Fla., Mike Sturm of Anchorage, Alaska, Ruth Ann Jurgens of Worthington, Loras (JoAnne) Sabers of Peosta, Lila (Steve) Geers of Manchester, Joe (Mary Ellen) Sabers of Ames, Virginia (Joe) Fleming of Marion, Dan (Debbie) Sabers of Iowa City, and special friends, Joe Dahl and Katelyn Dahl.

Her paternal grandparents, Clarence and Deloras Sabers and her maternal grandfather, Gene Sturm, preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, 2006, at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup. Burial will be at St. Athanasius Catholic Cemetery, Jesup. Friends may call after 7 p.m. today or after 2 p.m. Wednesday at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, where there will be a Parish rosary at 3 p.m. and Vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Visitation also will be for an hour before services Thursday at the church. Memorials directed to the St. Athanasius Catholic Church remodeling fund.
