WATERLOO - Frances M. Canfield, 92, of Friendship Village, died there Tuesday, March 22, 2005.

She was born June 29, 1912, in Cedar Rapids, daughter of Frank and Martha White Shireman. She married Paul L. Canfield on April 12, 1936, in Nashua. He died Dec. 31, 1973.

Mrs. Canfield graduated from West High School in 1930 and attended Gates Business College. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Builders Sunday School and El Meccanettes; was a 50-year member of Becker Chapter 499 Order of Eastern Star; and was a past member of BT chapter of TTT Society.

Survivors include a daughter: Judith (Keith) Mangels of Cottonwood, Ariz.; a son, Gerald "Jerry" (Anne) of Marriottsville, Md.; five grandchildren, Lori, Jodi, Traci, Brett and Julie; and six great-grandchildren, Skyler, Dylon, Nicholas, Ryan, Niki and Jesse.

Preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Gretchen Shireman.

Memorial services: 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Friendship Village Chapel, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be no visitation, her body was cremated. Locke Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
