WATERLOO - Leo Joseph Sours, 95, formerly of 1238 South Hill Drive, died Saturday, Oct. 8, 2005, at Bickford Cottage, Cedar Falls.

He was born Jan. 17, 1910, in Leavenworth Kan., son of Phillip and Beatrice Foley Sours. He married Vera Ransom on June 5, 1939, in Waterloo. She died Sept. 4, 1993.

Mrs. Sours was a graduate of Marble Rock High School and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was in the purchasing department at John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works until retiring. He also was employed as an operations manager with Nippon and Denso for several years.

Survivors include a daughter, Jean Buck of Waterloo; two grandchildren, Brad (Jessica) Buck of West Des Moines and Jenny (Tom) Riordan of Waterloo; a great-granddaughter, Emma Riordan; a brother-in-law, Joseph Ernster of Arizona; and a sister-in-law, Gladys Sours of California.

Preceded in death by three sisters, Ruth ( Dr. Alfred) Staudt, Eileen Ernster and Catherine Ann Sours; and four brothers, Raymond, Phillip, John and Jim (Isabelle).

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Military flag-folding rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 138 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1623. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup on South Street, with a 6 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also for an hour before services Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the church.
