WATERLOO - Carrie M. Verbraken, 101, of Waterloo, died Monday, Oct. 10, 2005, at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center of natural causes.

She was born June 26, 1904, in Decatur, Ill., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas McCluskey. She married Dennis James Verbraken on July 4, 1928, in Los Angeles. He died Sept. 12, 1992.

Mrs. Verbraken was a homemaker and a member of St. Edward Catholic Church.

Survivors include a son, Duane (Charlotte) of Waterloo; a daughter, Joanne Verbraken Golis of Phoenix; eight grandchildren, Mike (Sheila) Verbraken of Mesa, Ariz., Don (Jodi) Verbraken of Waterloo, Paul Verbraken of Chandler, Ariz., Kevin (Barb) Verbraken of Chandler, Ariz., Teresa (Ron) Crow of Des Moines, David (Trudy) Van Natta of Minnesota, Deborah (Jay) Yordt of Snowflake, Ariz., and Susan (Dave) Powell of La Porte City; 15 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Nellie Ercanbrack of Glendale, Calif.; a niece, Shirley Stoker; and a nephew, Tom Ercanbrack.

Preceded in death by a sister, Gertrude Slinkerd; and a great-grandson, Michael Mikey Verbraken.

Services: 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Edward Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also for an hour before services Thursday at the church.
