WATERLOO -- David Lloyd Benskin, 78, of Waterloo, formerly of Red Oak, died Sunday, April 6, 2014, at Sartori Memorial Hospital, Cedar Falls.

He was born March 15, 1936, in Red Oak, son of Ivan and Laura Wittmeyer Benskin. He married Martha Elliott in 1957 in Red Oak, and they later divorced. He married Barbara Brenton Miller on Nov. 9, 1967, in Omaha, Neb.

David graduated from Red Oak High School in 1954, earned an associate's degree at Marshalltown Community College, Marshalltown, and a bachelor's degree in industrial technology from the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls. He was employed as an engineer at Chamberlain Manufacturing Corp. for 27 years, retiring in 1991; and then drove a bus for EPI. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where he was an ordained deacon; was past Master of Martin Lodge 624 AF&AM; was a member of Red Oak Masonic Lodge and president of the Masters Instructor District Lecturer (MIDL) East Central. He played in various country/western bands, including Country Cousins.

Survived by his wife; two sons, John (Nancy) Miller and Duane Benskin, both of Waterloo; three daughters, Teresa (Jay) Kluth of Eugene, Ore., Rochelle (Rory) Dolan of Evansdale and Laurel (Martin) Hansen of Muscatine; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and a brother, Dean (Rosa) of Republic, Mo.

Preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Anna Marie Rainey; an infant son, David Jr.; a grandson, Adam Rainey; and two brothers, Raymond and an infant.

Services: 10 a.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Locke Funeral Home, with 7 p.m. public Masonic Rites by Martin Lodge 624 AF&AM.

Memorials in lieu of flowers, may be directed to the church.
