WATERLOO - Richard R. "Dick" Walden, 52, of Waterloo, died Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

He was born July 11, 1961, in Waterloo, son of Robert and Jane Holmes Walden.

Dick graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1979 and received his bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Iowa. He owned and operated the family business, Walden Photo, and later worked at Locke Funeral Home.

Survived by his mother of Waterloo; two sisters, Sue (Rick) Jorgensen of Naperville, Ill., and Kathy (Mark) Schreiner of Waterloo; a brother, Mike of Waterloo; five nieces and nephews, Bob (Megan) Jorgensen, Katie Jorgensen, Danny (Kelly) Jorgensen, Scott (Chelsey) Schreiner and Libby Schreiner; and a grandnephew, Colin Jorgensen.

Preceded in death by his father.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Locke Funeral Home, preceded by burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.

Dick was one of the first Certified Photographic Counselors in the area. He was a member of the Photographic Research Organization and Independent Photographic Imagers. He photographed Covenant and Sartori Foundations’ Heroes Among Us event every year.
