WATERLOO - Francis Clinton "Frank” Caya, 75, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home of complications due to congestive heart failure.

He was born June 29, 1938, in Janesville, Minn., son of Clinton and Violet Kopischke Caya. He married Katherine Pavich on Feb. 25, 1961, in Waterloo, and they later divorced. He married Patricia Bovy Pierce on Oct. 20, 1995, at St. Edwards Catholic Church, Waterloo.

Frank graduated from Albert Lea High School in Minnesota in 1956, and then served in the U.S. Air Force. He was employed for several years at John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works, as well as in several sales positions, before joining Community Motors for 15 years, retiring in 2004. He was a member of St. Edwards Catholic Church.

Survived by: his wife; three sons, Greg (Kristi) of Waterloo; LTC Richard (Marilyn) Caya of Easton, Kan., and SSG Michael (Vima) Caya of Glen Burnie, Md.; a stepson, Ron Pierce (Michele) of Hudson, Wis.; seven grandchildren, Heather and Landon Caya, Robert and Bradley Caya, Samantha Dallenbach, and Alyssa and Ryne Caya; his mother of Albert Lea; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his father; and two brothers, Donald and Gordon.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Edward’s Catholic Church, Waterloo, with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Eagle Center. Full military rites will be conducted by Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and the Evansdale AMVETS Post 31, assisted by the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard. Visitation from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, with a 6 p.m. vigil. Visitation also an hour before services Monday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the church or Cedar Valley Hospice.

Frank loved his family and cruising in his Corvette with his wife. He was an avid golfer and bowler, and will be missed by all who loved and knew him!
