WATERLOO -- Ruby Mae Simbric, 91, of Camp Verde, Ariz., formerly of Waterloo, died Tuesday, March 31, 2014.

She was born May 2, 1922, in Arlington, daughter of Louis O. and Susan C. Overeen Stokes. She married Robert Simbric on Nov. 2, 1942, in Waterloo; he died Jan. 27, 1991.

Ruby was a bookkeeper for Zook's Plumbing in her early years and was a homemaker. She was a member and past president of the Waterloo AMVETS Auxiliary and was a charter member of Immanuel Presbyterian Church.

Survived by two sons, Robert (Sue) of Camp Verde and Tom (Mary) of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a daughter, Susan (Perry) Steinmeyer of Waterloo; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Graveside services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, with a 10:30 a.m. Time of Remembrance.

Memorials may be directed to Parkside Community Church Missions, P.O. Box 118, Camp Verde, AZ.

Ruby enjoyed theater and drama, ranging from radio broadcast to initiating the first Swing Show at East High School and was involved in the Waterloo Community Playhouse. She valued the love and togetherness of family and friends, and embraced life with an amazing spirit and attitude she carried to the very end.
