WATERLOO -- Velda Taber Ashton, 69, of Waterloo, died Monday, March 31, 2014, at Country View Care Center of natural causes.

She was born Nov. 23, 1945, in Waterloo, daughter of Lawrence and Dorothy Heiple Taber. She married Terry Ashton on May 22, 1970, and they later divorced.

Velda graduated from Dunkerton High School, Dunkerton.

Survived by a sister-in-law, LinaMarie Taber of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Gene Emmert Taber.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel, preceded by an hour of visitation, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
