WATERLOO Elsie Arline Wayland, 88, of 415 Webster St., died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2006, at home of natural causes.

She was born June 10, 1917, in Tulsa, Okla., daughter of Nathaniel and Elnora Harris Jones. She married Flavors Wayland Aug. 29, 1935, in Waterloo. He preceded her in death Aug. 6, 1987.

She was formerly employed as a cook at the Brown Derby and the Mandarin Cafe.

Survived by a son, Frederick (Mary Ann) Wayland-Johnson of Waterloo; two daughters, Doris (David) Robinson of Pueblo, Colo., and Delores (Norris) Sisk of Waterloo; an adopted great-granddaughter, Doris (Raydell) Talbert of Waterloo; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Hayes of Kansas City, Kan.

Preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a granddaughter, Donnella Washington.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Shilliam Avenue Church of God in Christ, with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Graveside services will take place in the Garden of Devotions section of the cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Sanders Funeral Service.

Memorials may be directed to the family at 415 Webster St., where they will receive friends.
