JESUP - Marvin H. Riensche, 86, of rural Jesup, died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2005, at West Village Care Center, Independence, of heart failure.

He was born Oct. 16, 1918, in Fox Township, Black Hawk County, near Jesup, son of Christian C. and Mathilda Koob Riensche. On Aug. 26, 1943, he married Mary Della Hendricks in Minneapolis.

Mr. Riensche served with the U.S. Army Infantrys 29th Division in France, Belgium and Germany during World War II. He farmed south of Jesup, retiring in 1993, and was employed for over 35 years by the Farmers Mutual Telephone Co., Jesup.

Survivors include: his wife; two daughters, Carol (John) Chase of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Sandra (Steven) Smothers of Oelwein; a son, James C. (Jolayne) of Cedar Rapids; two grandchildren, six stepgrandchildren and 16 stepgreat-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a sister, Erna Luloff.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church-Jubilee, rural La Porte City, with burial in the church cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by Pump-Scheer American Legion Post 342 of Jesup. Friends may call from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at White Funeral Home, Jesup, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the church.
