Walter D. Lyle, 88, of 3112 Sheridan Ave., who operated a clothing store at La Porte City for 30 years died of pneumonia Wednesday at Des Moines General Hospital.

Born at Keota, Mr. Lyle operated the store until his retirement in 1952. He had lived in Des Moines the last seven years.

He was a 50-year member of Knights of Pythias, a member of Odd Fellows and First Presbyterian Church at La Porte City.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Johannsen-Rossow Funeral Home, La Porte City, with burial at Westview Cemetery there.

Surviving are three daughters: Mrs. Walter D. Kline, Des Moines, Mrs. M. E. Aspenson, Mason City and Mrs. David Striffler, Ann Arbor, Mich., and five grandchildren.
