CEDAR FALLS - Irene J. Ahlf, 81, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, April 20, 2001, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo, of cancer.

She was born Aug. 15, 1919, in Muscatine, daughter of Curtis E. and Wilhelmina Havemann Deems. She married Edward D. Ahlf on Dec. 19, 1940, in Muscatine.

Survived by her husband; two sons, Edward D. of Clinton and William G. of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Denise A. Monson of Dixon, Ill.; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a stepgreat-granddaughter.

Preceded in death by two brothers, Curtis and George Deems; and three sisters, Margaret Haines, Dorothy Kedl and Ruth Ann Deems.

Services: 10 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Cedar Falls, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, Muscatine. Friends may call from 1 to 6 p.m. today at Richardson Funeral Home, with the family present from 2 to 4 p.m. Visitation also for an hour before services Monday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the church or the Cedar Valley Hospice.
