[Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier, April 22, 2001]

EVANSDALE - Our beloved mother and grandmother, Jessie L. Robinson Kutz, was released from her 12-year battle with breast cancer on Thursday, April 19, 2001.

She was born March 20, 1919, in Grand Rapids, Wis., daughter of J. Lee and Lola E. Rockwood Johnson Thompson. She married J. Aulden Robinson on Aug. 11, 1940, in Waterloo. He preceded her in death on December 6, 1958. She married Roger A. Kutz in July 1975 in Waterloo. They later divorced.

Ms. Kutz was employed as a secretary at Medical Associates, Waterloo, for 23 years, retiring in 1982.

After her son James Aulden Robinson was injured in a local train accident in 1963, a trust fund was established for him by the community. At the time of James' death, Jessie was instrumental in transferring the trust fund to a scholarship fund at Hawkeye Community College for handicapped or disabled students.

She was a long time member of Linden United Methodist Church and very active in United Methodist Women.

She will be missed by her two daughters, Patricia L. Brockway of Washburn and Janet A. Peterson of Dunkerton; her son-in-law, Roger Peterson of Dunkerton; her four grandchildren, Julie A. Peterson and friend, Tim Homerding, of Las Vegas, Paul and Lynn (Brockway) Bailey of Honolulu, Hawaii, Dawn J. Peterson and friend Jason Meyers of Cedar Rapids, and Dean A. and Danelle Brockway of Waterloo; and her three great-granddaughters, Janae Peterson, Sydney Bailey and Destiny Brockway; her two brothers, Roland J. Thompson of Sumner and Robert L. Thompson of Evansdale; her sister, Catherine Mierose of Garden Grove, Calif.; and her half-brother, Thomas M. Thompson of Cedar Falls.

She was preceded in death by her son, James Aulden Robinson, in 1972; her brother, Harland Thompson; her sister, Daisy Dennis; her three half-brothers, Oliver, William and George Johnson; and her two half-sisters, Elizabeth Bird and Emma Ratchford.

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday at Linden United Methodist Church, with burial in Fairview Cemetery, both in Waterloo. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, Waterloo, and for an hour before services Monday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family and they will make donations to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, Dunkerton Public Library and her church.
