CEDAR FALLS - Edward D. Hildebrand, 81, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, Aug. 26, 2005, at Sartori Memorial Hospital of natural causes.

He was born March 6, 1924, in rural Reinbeck, son of Lyle and Mildred Moeller Hildebrand. He married Millie Rush July 10, 1948, at the First Presbyterian Church Parsonage, Reinbeck.

He graduated from Reinbeck High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Hildebrand worked for the light company in Reinbeck, for Thomas Emmett at his gas station, and Moeller & Walter. In 1963 they moved to Cedar Falls and he continued to work as an auto mechanic, working for several area auto dealerships until retiring in 1994.

Survived by his wife; three sons, Dan, Dale (friend, Jane Remley) and Darrin (Linda), all of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Diane (Clyde) Bell of Manchester and Sue (Emery) Griffith of Cedar Falls; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a grandson; and a sister, Darlene Rains.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church, Reinbeck, with cremation and private family burial at a later date. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. today at French Hand Funeral Home, Reinbeck, with the family present.
