WATERLOO - Sydney Karen Strohbehn, 66, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home of cancer.

She was born April 26, 1941, in Waterloo, daughter of Ralph and Myrna Pecenka Strohbehn.

She received her education in the Geneseo schools where she graduated in 1959. She continued her education at AIB College of Business, Des Moines. She was employed at John Deere & Co. as a purchasing agent, retiring in 1997.

Survived by a brother, Daryl (Cathy) Strohbehn of Gilbert; two sisters, Gale Strohbehn of Waterloo and Carolyn (Dick) Dinsdale of Traer; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Geneseo United Methodist Church, Buckingham, with burial in Geneseo Cemetery. Public visitation for an hour before services Saturday at the church. Parrott and Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton family service, is in charge of arrangements.

A memorial fund has been established.

In free moments she enjoyed flower gardening, handcraft work and supporting her bowling team prior to retirement. For several years following her retirement she and her sisters were vendors at the Cedar Falls Farmers Market, and she was well-known for her pies and baked goods.
