PIONEER FARMER CALLED BY DEATH

JOHN WESLEY WILLIAMS PASSES AWAY AT SON'S HOME.

Came to Iowa In 1856—Lived On Black Hawk Farm.

John Wesley Williams, pioneer farmer of Black Hawk county, died in the home of his son, J. O. Williams, 321 Iowa Street, Sunday.

Mr. Williams was born in, Erie County, New York, Sept. 8, 1834. He came to Iowa with his parents in April, 1856 and the first home of the family was on a farm on Black Hawk Creek, near Waterloo. In 1866, six years after his marriage to Miss Anna M. Hedinger, he moved to a farm in Orange Township, where they resided until 1882.

In the fall of 1882 Mr. Williams left the farm and moved into Waterloo to reside. He remained here 19 years, going to Clear Lake, S. D. in March, 1901. April 23, 1909, Mrs. Williams died in their Clear Lake home and he came to Waterloo to live with his son.

He was a hard working, industrious farmer all his life, enjoying robust health until his seventieth year. He was a good friend, watchful of the welfare of others, kind and helpful to all.

He was a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church, from which his funeral will take place at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. Rev. John Bunyan Smith will be in charge and interment will be in Elmwood.

Mr. Williams is survived by his son, a niece, Mrs. Billings, Hudson; and two nephews, C. W. and E. E. Hill, Waterloo.

The body was taken to the Kistner Mortuary, where it will remain until the hour of the funeral.

Pioneer Farmer Is Laid to Rest

Funeral services for John Wesley Williams, a resident of Black Hawk County since 1856, took place this afternoon from the Walnut Street Baptist Church.

Mr. Williams, who was born in New York, spent his life farming Iowa land, with the exception of a few years spent in South Dakota. He made his home with his son, J. O. Williams, this city for the last few years.
