WATERLOO - Helen M. Blanchard, 80, of Waterloo, died at the Manor Care Nursing and Rehab Center on Wednesday, July 11, 2001 from complications of Alzheimer's disease.

She was born November 13, 1920 in Waterloo, the daughter of Henry W. and Emma Kluth Neidert. She married Vern Blanchard on September 23, 1939 in Waterloo. He died on February 12, 2001.

She had worked in the cafeteria at Chamberlain Manufacturing Company for 16 years.

Survivors include a son, Doug Blanchard of Denver; three daughters, Shirley Gorby, Peggy Beard and Nancy Barker, all of Waterloo; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harry Neidert of Cedar Rapids and Albert Neidert of La Crosse, WI; and a sister, Leona Bentley of Waterloo.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents; two brothers, Floyd and Herman Neidert; and a sister, Marion Wright.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Garden View Chapel with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
