[Waterloo Courier, Wednesday, January 30, 1884, Waterloo, Iowa]

DEATH OF A. M. HISERODT - Andrew M. Hiserodt died at his residence in this city last Sunday evening at 6:45 o'clock. He had been sick for the past five months, suffering severly with dropsy. For several weeks past, however, he had been improving, and so far recovered that he could come down and visit his friends. Last Thursday night he slept without having a handkerchief around his neck, and as the weather grew colder during the night, he caught a very severe cold, which brought on a catarrhal affection followed on Saturday by erysipelas. In his weak condition he was unable to rally, and gradually sank away until death came to his relief, passing away peacefully and without a struggle.

The funeral services were held from the 1st Baptist Church yesterday afternoon, Rev. R. Garton officiating, and the remains were interred with the ceremonials of the Workmen, of which order deceased was a member, having belonged to Courier Lodge since its institution.

Deceased was 52 years of age. He was born in New York state and came here 18 years ago. During his residence here he has served much of the time as an officer, and was very shrewd and efficient in that capacity.

He leaves a wife, and a son about 9 years old; also, a daughter, Mrs. Geo. S. Lee, of Denver, Col., by a former wife.

He was well known and highly respected by all.
