WASHBURN - Patrick LaVerne Hoppes, 59, of Washburn, died at home Tuesday, July 1, 2008 of natural causes.

He was born April 3, 1949, in Waterloo, son of Guy LaVerne and Charlene Mary Rodamaker Hoppes. He married Barbara Sue Elmore Watson on April 3, 1975, in Waterloo.

Mr. Hoppes graduated from Columbus High School and attended Luther College. He was employed at John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works for 30 years, retiring in 1999.

Survived by his wife; a stepson, Jeffrey Thomas Watson of Waterloo; two grandchildren, Ashley Marie and Brianna Sue Watson, both of Waterloo; and a brother, John Hoppes of Grand Forks, N.D.

Preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Steve; and a stepdaughter, Lisa Sue.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Edward Catholic Church, Waterloo, with burial in St. Patrick's section of Greenwood Cemetery, Cedar Falls. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, Waterloo, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also an hour before services Saturday at the church. There will be no visitation on Friday.

Memorial fund will be established at a later date.

Pat was devoted to the Eucharistic Adoration, praying every Sunday afternoon from 3 to 4 p.m. at Columbus High School.
