WATERLOO - Ellery John Temple Jr., 62, of Waterloo, died Monday, Sept. 15, 2008, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home of cancer.

He was born May 6, 1946, in Pennsylvania, son of Ellery John and Evelyn Wallace Temple Sr. He married Sheila Buhr in 1968 in Chicago, and they later divorced.

Mr. Temple graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1964. He was self-employed as a musician, playing in four area bands, including "Iowa Chops" and "Blue Band." He was recently inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame.

Survived by a daughter, Andrea (Troy) Timm of Waterloo; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Preceded in death by his mother.

Memorial services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Services on South Street, preceded by an hour of visitation.
