WATERLOO - William Louis Cutsforth, 85, formerly of Waterloo, died at home Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, at Sunrise Cottages, Rochester, Minn., of natural causes.

He was born Jan. 1, 1923, in Jacksonville Township, rural Lawler, son of William L. and Elizabeth McGrane Cutsforth. He married Bernadette Britt on May 24, 1952, in Lawler. She died Dec. 24, 1981.

Mr. Cutsforth was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War in heavy artillery. He was employed with Ziegler Concrete as a steel cutter, retiring in 1983.

Survived by a son, Dale of Rochester; two grandsons, Scott (Amanda Smith) Freeman of Hiawatha and Jason Freeman of Washburn; a great-grandson, Eli Freeman of Washburn; three brothers, James of Calmar, LaVerne (Charlene) of Waterloo, and Cletus of Cottage Grove, Minn.; three sisters, Arlene Kolthoff, Mable Randall and Ida Yearling, all of Waterloo; two sisters-in-law, Esther Cutsforth of Waterloo and Bernice Cutsforth of Lawler; a brother-in-law, Gerald (Dorothy) Britt of Waterloo; and a special friend, Evelyn Wedemeier of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by two daughters, Carolyn Cutsforth and Sheryl Freeman; five brothers, Robert, Merle, Herbert, Glenn and Virgil; and a sister, Mary Cutsforth, in infancy.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olive Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and Evansdale AMVETS Post 31. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation also an hour before services Wednesday at the church.
