GILBERTVILLE - Lori L. Schares, 33, of Chicago, formerly of Gilbertville, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008, at her home; cause of death pending the results of an autopsy.

She was born Nov. 29, 1974, in Waterloo, daughter of Lester N. and Phyllis Jean Frost Schares.

She graduated from Don Bosco High School in 1993 as class valedictorian. Her modeling career began when she was selected as one of the Top Ten finalists in the YM Cover Girl Model Search. She spent several years modeling with agencies in Chicago and New York.

She attended the University of Aesthetics in Downers Grove, Ill., where she received her degree in aesthetics. Most recently she was self employed as a makeup artist/stylist with agencies in Chicago and New York.

Survived by her father, Lester Schares (companion Margaret Ihde) of Gilbertville; a sister, Jodi (Josh) Menke of Lake in the Hills, Ill.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Preceded in death by her mother, Phyllis, in 1987; paternal grandparents, Joseph and Mary Schares; and maternal grandparents, Cletus "Bud" and Dolores Frost and Irma Frost.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, both in Gilbertville. Public visitation from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary service and a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also for an hour before services Monday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the church or the Bosco System.

Lori will be greatly missed, but we know she is at peace, back in the loving arms of her mother, who she has dearly missed.
