CEDAR FALLS - Robert Richard "Pinky" Lauer, 74, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, April 8, 2005, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home of natural causes.

He was born Oct. 13, 1930, in Eldorado, son of Philip and Francis Keig Lauer. He married Delores Witwer Oct. 14, 1951, in Eldorado. They later divorced. He then married Joyce Sanchez.

Mr. Lauer was retired from John Deere and Rath Packing Co.

Survivors include his wife of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Grace Lauer of Fredericksburg; four grandchildren, Dawn Cole of Eldorado, John Cole of Spencer, Dorothy Nadene Marie Meyer of Independence and Nathaniel Meyer of Waterloo; four stepgrandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Jim; a cousin, Velda Mae Lauer; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents; his aunt who raised him, Anna Gross; a son, Thomas; a stepgrandchild; and a sister, Mary Opperman.

Prayer services: 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Peters Lutheran Church, Eldorado, with the Rev. Dennis Hugdall officiating. Memorial services will be at a later date.
