APLINGTON - David A. Hippen, 45, of Aplington, died Saturday, March 15, 2014, at UnityPoint Health - Allen Hospital, Waterloo, of natural causes.

He was born June 23, 1968, in Waterloo, son of John and Mary Lou Evers Hippen. On Aug. 20, 1988, he married Stacy Winterburg at First Reformed Church, Aplington, and they later divorced.

Dale graduated from Aplington High School in 1986 and received an associate’s degree in business from Ellsworth Community College, Iowa Falls. He owned and operated Hippen Appliance Store in Aplington; worked at Leath Furniture in Cedar Falls; and then at Jerry’s Furniture in Waterloo, until 2010, when he suffered a head injury after falling down a flight of stairs.

Survived by a daughter, Mackenzie Hippen of Parkersburg; his parents of Aplington; and a brother, Tim (Christine) of Aplington.

Preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, John and Grace Evers; and paternal grandparents, John and Irene Hippen.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Bethel Reformed Church, with burial in Pleasant View Cemetery, both in rural Aplington. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Redman-Schwartz Home, Parkersburg, and an hour before services Wednesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
