Beth Jensen, 83, of Ridgeway Place (formerly from Denver, Colo.) was called to the Lord Aug. 19, 2007.

Beth was born Dec. 16, 1923, the second child of Clarence Garfield and Bertha Naomi (Smedley) Whitmer of Rantoul, Ill. She married Maurice A. Jensen on June 10, 1944, at Chanute Anny Air Field in Rantoul. He died May 22, 2003.

She is the mother of two sons, Joseph Edward Jensen (Joan Robertson) of Baltimore, Md., and Kenneth Robert (Linnea) Jensen of Waverly, Tenn.; two daughters, Mary Therese (Dale) Minor of Waterloo and Marcia Elaine Jensen (deceased); grandmother of Meredith Jensen, Jens Christopher (Diane) Jensen, Maj. Kevin (Jennifer) Minor, USAF, and Marsha Minor; great-grandmother of Hannah and Hope Minor, of Hunter, Jordan, and Colin Johnson and of Landon Jensen; sister-in-law of William C. and Ann Jensen of Omaha, Neb., and F. Maynard (deceased) and Barbara Jensen of Hillsboro, Ore. Also missed by many nieces and nephews; companion and friend of Charlie and Jerry Baler, and adoptive grandmother to Charlie and Danny Baier, all from Denver, Colo.
Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Maurice (2003); daughter, Marcia Elaine (1952); and her sister, Anna May Granieri (2003).

Beth was employed at Wells Rutherford, Inc. (now RKR Corp.) of Denver, Colo., for more than 40 years before her retirement.

Following Maurice's death, Beth moved from Denver to Ridgeway Place in Waterloo, where over the past four years she was loved by residents and staff for her positive attitude and generous, outgoing spirit.

Rosary 5 p.m., visitation concluding with Scripture service at 7 p.m., today, Aug. 21, at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service, 300 West Ridgeway Ave. Mass of the Resurrection 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, at St. Edward's Church, followed by services and burial in Denver, Colo. Memorials may be directed to Assumption Catholic Church, Welby, Colo.; St. Edward's Church in Waterloo, or Cedar Valley Hospice, also in Waterloo.
