CEDAR FALLS - Helen M. Petersen, 89, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2007, at Windhaven/Thalman Square, Cedar Falls.

She was born Nov. 18, 1917, in Cedar Falls, daughter of Harry and Carrie Knudsen Hills. She married Leonard Petersen Aug. 3, 1941, in Cedar Falls. He preceded her in death April 1, 1999.

She graduated from Shell Rock High School and attended beauty school and was a beautician for five years.

Survived by two sons, John (Laura) of Cedar Falls and Jim (Marlys) of Bella Vista, Ark.; five grandchildren, Kristin (Chris) Meyer, Michelle Petersen, Missy (Tim) Bartholomew, Chris (Amy) Petersen and Carrie (Andy) Lauppe; six great-grandchildren, Noah Meyer, Jessica, Andrew and Rachel Bartholomew, and Anne and Brian Petersen; and two sisters, Jean (Harlan) Stenberg of Clear Lake and Marge Gram of Sacramento, Calif.

Preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Evelyn Parker and Charlotte Olmstead; and a brother, Richard Hills.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Friday at Nazareth Lutheran Church, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Public visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and for an hour before services Friday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Nazareth Lutheran Church.
