WATERLOO - M. "Lorraine" Lyons, 83, of Waterloo, died at home Thursday, July 3, 2008, of natural causes.

She was born May 16, 1925, in Waukon, daughter of Daniel and Kathryn Watters Regan. She married James Adrian Lyons on June 28, 1944, in Bremerton, Wash. He died March 7, 1993.

Mrs. Lyons taught in a one-room schoolhouse in New Albin, then substitute taught at St. John's Catholic School, Waterloo.

Survived by two sons, James (Annette) of Clinton and John (friend Becky) of Waterloo; three daughters, Jeanne (Doug) Davidson of Keizer, Ore., Joyce (Pat) Dunlay of Waterloo and Judy (Paul) Benskin of Campbellsville, Ky.; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Charlotte (Joseph "Reg") O'Malley of Waterloo; and a brother, Donald Regan of Omaha, Neb.

Preceded in death by a son, Jerry E. Lyons.

Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 7 p.m. Legion of Mary rosary. Visitation also an hour before services Tuesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
