WATERLOO -- Charles A. “Chuck” McDonald, 85, of Waterloo, died at UnityPoint Health-Allen Hospital on Sunday, March 9, 2014.

He was born March 23, 1928, in Rapid City, S.D., son of Walter and Edna Anderson McDonald. He married Vivian Shank in Dunbar, W.Va., on Nov. 17, 1956.

Chuck graduated from Rapid City High School and then from the University of Minnesota with a doctorate in veterinary medicine in 1952. He and his wife owned and operated the George and George Pet Shop for many years. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Waterloo.

Survived by his wife; a daughter, Kathy (Pamela Hampshire) McDonald of Gainesville, Fla.; a son, James (Julie) of Waterloo; two granddaughters, Sarah (Ben) Kutz of Waterloo and Stacey Dixon of Cedar Falls; and two great-grandchildren, Cayden and Kellen Kutz.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, with entombment in Garden of Memories Mausoleum. Visitation from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Locke Funeral Home.
