WATERLOO - Ruth M. Wise, 90, formerly of Waterloo, died Friday, May 27, 2005, at the Shell Rock Health Care Center, Shell Rock.

She was born July 11, 1914, in Shell Rock, daughter of Walter and Reka Rogers Epley. She married James V. Wise on Oct. 30, 1946, in Waverly. He died Sept. 17, 1972.

Mrs. Wise was a member of First United Methodist Church, Waterloo, and of the Waterloo Womens Club.

Survivors include four sons, James K. (Nadine) of Spring Grove, Minn., Gregory A. of Rochester, Minn., Richard C. and Walter W., both of Waterloo; a daughter, Mary E. (William) Nichols of Evansdale; six grandchildren, Pam Van Vleck of Dubuque, Becky Weiss of Marion, William Nichols II of Chippewa Falls, Wis., Jessica Wise of Chicago, and Jamie and Jeremy Wise, both of Spring Grove; and three great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Floyd, Rufus and Kenneth Epley; and two sisters, Clara Legett and Mary Bryson.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, and for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the church.
