WATERLOO - Steve R. Miecznikowski, 90, of ManorCare Health Services, formerly of the Chicago and Phoenix areas, died at the center Sunday, May 29, from complications of Alzheimers disease.

He was born Nov. 30, 1914, in Chicago, son of Burno and Bernice Tybur Miecznikowski. He married Charlotte Balon on Sept. 25, 1937, in Chicago. She died May 24, 1977.

Mr. Miecznikowski graduated from high school in Chicago and was employed as a corporate engineer for Armour & Co. for 35 years, in the Chicago and Phoenix areas, retiring in 1979. He was a member of St. Edwards Catholic Church and the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include a son, Bob (Carolyn) of Waterloo; three grandchildren, Elizabeth (Brad) Lybbert, Robert M. and David Miecznikowski; and eight great-grandchildren, Lauren, Nick and McKenna Lybbert, and Grey, Gabriel, Noah, Griffin and Megan Miecznikowski.

Preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Rod Hogan.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Edwards Catholic Church, with burial later. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 4 p.m. Senior Citizens rosary, a 6 p.m. Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the church.
