WATERLOO - Myrtle E. Kruger, 99, of Lakeview Lodge, died Friday, July 1, 2005, at Covenant Medical Center.

She was born Nov. 26, 1905, in Benton County, daughter of Leslie and Clara Engledow Young. She married Fred H. Kruger Sept. 25, 1927. He died Oct. 15, 1967.

After studying piano under a private teacher, Mrs. Kruger received a teaching certificate from Coe College in 1924. She taught piano in the Mount Auburn area until moving to Waterloo from Vinton in 1927. She wrote poetry and meditations and published a book of meditations.

Mrs. Kruger was active in the International Order of the Kings Daughters and Sons, where she was president of the Ida Mansfield Circle, president of Black Hawk County and first vice president of the Iowa Branch, and director of Spiritual Life.

Survived by five nieces; and a nephew.

Preceded in death by a sister, Neva Ferguson; and a brother, Clifton Young.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Locke Funeral Home, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to Bethel Presbyterian Church or Friendship Village Health Center.
