Edna Clara Hartley, age 36, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Hartley, died at 3:30 a.m. today at the family home, 219 Clay Street. after an extended illness of Bright's disease. She returned to Waterloo four weeks ago from Boulder, Mont., where for the she had been engaged of girls in the Montana School for Deaf and Blind. She was apparently in her usual health when she returned.

She was born in Illinois July 11, 1883. For 10 years she had devoted her life to helping in various state institutions. She had held executive positions in the South Dakota Reform School for Girls, the Idaho Reform School for Girls, the Idaho School for Deaf and Blind and the Montana Sdhool for Deaf and Blind, where she expected to return in September after spending a vacation with her parents.

Funeral services will be at First. Presbyterian church at 3 p. m. Friday, Rev. J. R. Macartney officiating. After the services tbe body will be at the Hileman & Gindt mortuary until the remains are taken Saturday morning to Princeton, Ill., where burial will be in the family lot.
