INDEPENDENCE - Karen G. Jensen, 61, of Independence, died at home Wednesday, March 5, 2014, following a long illness.

She was born April 9, 1952, in Cedar Falls, daughter of Ethan Ray and Marvel Jean Ramthun Brayton. On May 21, 1999, she married Rick Jensen at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Independence.

Karen was a graduate of Independence High School and Ellsworth Community College. She worked at the Buchanan County Health Center as a ward clerk and nurses aide for 40 years.

Survived by her husband; a son, Jason Hunziker of Independence; two grandchildren; her mother of Fort Worth; a brother, Brad Brayton of Independence; and three sisters, Janelle Brayton of Independence, Rita Klendworth of Fort Worth and Carmen Bussard of Des Moines.

Preceded in death by her father.

Services: 3 p.m. Friday at Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, where visitation begins at 1 p.m.
