LA PORTE CITY - Gerald Dean Rossiter, 90, of Des Plaines, Ill., formerly of La Porte City, died Sunday, Aug. 28, 2005.

He was born Dec. 6, 1914, in Davenport, son of Edna and Sturrel Rossiter. He married Wilma Mardene Runyan in 1943.

Mr. Rossiter was a salesman for several coal and large equipment companies based in the Midwest. He was a founding member and served on the building committee at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Des Plaines.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Jean (Allan) Johnson of Chapel Hill, N.C., Joy (John W.) Williams of Fayetteville, Ark., and Jill Lewis of Round Lake Beach, Ill.; six grandchildren and a great-granddaughter; and a brother, Wilbur (Dorothy) of Sun City, Ariz.

Preceded in death by a sister, Helen.

Graveside services: 11 a.m. Sept. 24 at West View Cemetery, La Porte City. G.L. Hills Funeral Home, Des Plaines, is in charge of arrangements.
