CEDAR FALLS - Ewald "Ozzie" Damgaard, 81, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, Sept. 2, 2005, at Sartori Memorial Hospital.

He was born March 31, 1924, in Sorig, Denmark, son of Niels and Christine Jakobsen Damgaard. He married Wilma "Billie" Koehler on Aug. 31, 1947, at Nazareth Lutheran Church. She died May 20, 1985. He married Virginia Hyde Stover on Feb. 25, 1989, at Nazareth Lutheran Church.

Mr. Damgaard served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He owned and operated Ozzies Phillips 66 in Cedar Falls from 1942 to 1956, then owned and operated Star Refrigeration, Waterloo, for many years. He retired from John Deere in 1987 after 14 years as a security guard.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Thomas (Paula) of Cedar Falls; a stepson, Rick Stover of Cape Cod, Mass.; two stepdaughters, Angela (Joe) Zielbauer and Tammy (Mike) Wahl, both of Waterloo; two grandchildren, Nicole and Mitch Damgaard; six stepgrandchildren, Kane Magee, Kacy Magee, Jolene Michalek, Ryan Day, Jason Day and Kaylee Day; a sister, Marcella (Cliff) Trent of Cedar Falls; and a niece, Vickie Trent of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by a brother, Johannes.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Nazareth Lutheran Church, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home and for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Riverside Lutheran Bible Camp, Story City.
