HUDSON - Norma J. Braden, 75, of Hudson, died Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2006, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo, of cancer.

She was born Sept. 18, 1930, in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, daughter of Fred and Marie Mathes Strayer. She married Howard Braden June 29, 1952, at Community Church of Hudson.

She graduated from Hudson High School in 1948 and received a teaching certificate from Iowa State Teachers College in 1950 and her BA from UNI in 1971. She was a special education teacher in the Waterloo School System, retiring in 1993.

Survived by her husband, Howard Braden of Hudson; four sons, Randall (Ingrid) of Dallas, Reed (Linda) of Hudson, Rex (Kathy) of Irvine, Calif., and Russell (Diane) of Sioux Falls, S.D.; two daughters, Ronda Braden of Columbia, Mo., and Rebecca (Rick) Guisto of Peoria, Ariz.; and six grandchildren.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Community Church of Hudson, preceded by burial in the Hudson Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Locke Funeral Home, Waterloo.

Memorials may be directed to Community Church of Hudson or Cedar Valley Hospice.
