WATERLOO - Bernice May Graham, 89, of Whittier, Calif., formerly of Waterloo, died Saturday, March 4, 2006, in Presbyterian Hospital Hospice House of a stroke following surgery for a broken hip after a fall in her home.

She was born May 13, 1916, in Mt. Morris, Ill., the oldest of four girls of Everette Lola and Myrtle Irene Grove Ford. She was married to David Edwin Graham on June 8, 1940, in Waterloo. They were married for 50 years prior to his death in 1990.

Mrs. Graham graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1934. She worked briefly after high school and during wartime while her husband was in the European Theater. After the birth of her daughter, Vicki Lyn, she was a stay-at-home mom. The family moved to Whittier in 1964 where she became active in the Presbyterian Hospital Auxiliary of which she is a life member and was an active volunteer putting in more than 7,000 hours working at the Thrift Shop and in the Craft Group. She has been a member of Beta Sigma Phi Alpha Alpha Master Chapter for 62 years and is a life member.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Vicki Lyn and Gerald Lee Sietsema of La Habra, Calif.; her two grandchildren, Gregg Graham and Lynne Susan; two stepgrandchildren, Jay and Paul; and two stepgreat-grandchildren, Lukas and Erik.

Services will be held today, March 8, at East Whittier Presbyterian Church. White-Emerson Mortuary, Whittier, is in charge of arrangements.
