WATERLOO - Raymond E. Lesser, 85, of Waterloo, died Monday, Feb. 27, 2006, at Allen Hospital.

He was born July 16, 1920, in Chicago, son of Samuel and Frieda Glawe Lesser. He married Marjorie Edstrand on March 6, 1943, in Chicago. She died May 15, 2004.

Mr. Lesser was a machinist and retired as a cost estimator from California Hydrofoaming Co., El Monte, Calif., in 1985. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include two sons, Ryk (Andi) of Santa Cruz, Calif., and Robert of Los Angeles; a daughter, Lyn (Joe) Tackett of Waterloo; four grandchildren, Sarah Salem, Travis Salem, Nicole Berns and Dallas Berns; three great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Lillian Lesser of Natchez, Miss.; and a niece, Barbara (Roy) Winkworth of Natchez.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Ellen Marie Paulson; a brother, Harold; and a sister, Florence Dupper.

Family-conducted memorial services: 1 p.m. Thursday at Heartland Vineyard Church, Waterloo, with burial in Oakdale Memorial Park Cemetery, Glendora, Calif. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway.
