CEDAR FALLS - Lois Z. Rippe, 74, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014.

She was born Feb. 7, 1940, in Dimock, S.D., daughter of William and Erna Neugebauer Zangle. She married Duane Rippe on Dec. 27, 1962, in Dimock.

Lois received a bachelor's degree from Augustana College, Sioux Falls, S.D., and a master's degree from the University of Minnesota, Mankato. She was a business teacher at Parkersburg High School, Parkersburg, and Gates Business College, Waterloo. She then became an accounting instructor at Hawkeye Community College, where she taught for 20 years.

Survived by her husband; three sons, Doug (Leah) of Naperville, Ill., Mark (Abby) of Denver and Kurt (Julie) of Hudson, Ohio; five grandchildren, Julia and Derek Rippe of Naperville, and Jacob, Kathryn and Lauren Rippe of Hudson; and a sister, Berniece (Jerry) Mayer of Sioux Falls.

Preceded in death by her parents; and a sister and brother-in-law, Maxine and Don Thorson.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Nazareth Lutheran Church, with burial in Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, and an hour before services Wednesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family to be forwarded to Mayo Clinic, Pulmonary Hypertension Clinic or Nazareth Lutheran Church.
