WATERLOO -- Eugene Marvin "Gene" Groen, 58, of McGregor, formerly of Waterloo, died at home Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014.

He was born June 22, 1955, in Plainfield, son of Marvin "Bud" and Darlene Klunder Groen.

Survived by his significant other, Barbara Engle; two sisters, Carol Shoars and Diane (Larry) Knavel; three nephews; and three nieces.

Preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents, Bill and Luella Klunder and Pete and Paulene Groen; and a brother-in-law, Mark Shoars.

Celebration of life services: 11 a.m. Saturday at First Congregational United Church of Christ, McGregor. Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Monona, is in charge of arrangements.

Gene was blessed to have moved to the McGregor area, live with his special friend, Barb and spending time at “the ranch.” He loved fishing, hunting, NASCAR and spending time with friends.
