WATERLOO - Doretta Gardner Menuey, 72, of Waterloo, died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2006, at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, Minn., of natural causes.

She was born April 24, 1933, in Gilbertville, daughter of Peter and Anna Niesen Gardner. She was employed with Peoples Hospital in Independence until her retirement.

Survivors include five sons, Billy and Tom (Lynn), both of Evansdale, Mike (Jerry) of Jesup, Bob (Beth) of Oelwein and Paul (Nicole) of Independence; a daughter, Cheryl (Rolando) Cerda of Mission, Texas; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Claude (Marie) Gardner of Waterloo; three sisters, Bernadette Ohrt and Ann (Richard) Kayser, both of Jesup, and Petronilla Yarrington of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Bonnie Rottinghaus; three brothers, Don, Pete Jr. and Pat Gardner; and two sisters, Rita Homolka and Lucy Duff.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at St. Edward Catholic Church, Waterloo, with burial in St. Athanasius Cemetery, Jesup. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also for an hour before services Friday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
