WATERLOO - Donna J. Matthiesen Nielsen, 80, of Allison, formerly of Waterloo, died Thursday, June 23, at Allen Hospital of natural causes.

She was born Oct. 26, 1924, in Frederika, daughter of Carl and Louise Moeller Matthiesen. She married Howard Nielsen in 1947 in Kansas City, Kan. He died March 15, 1989.

Donna worked in the Allen Hospital Coffee Shop for 30 years.

Survivors include her special friend, Gordon Heath; a son, Samuel (Diana) Nielsen of Waterloo; a daughter, Tamara (Gary) Spier of Janesville; a granddaughter; and four stepgrandchildren.

Preceded in death by a brother, Randy Matthiesen.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday at the Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, with burial in Garden of Memories. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today and for an hour before services Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
