WATERLOO - Lloyd E. Cook, 87, of Waterloo, died Thursday, June 12, 2008, at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center of cancer.

He was born Feb. 5, 1921, in Waterloo, son of James M. and Eva Speiker Cook. He married Laverne Geissler in 1946 in Waterloo. She died in 1983.

Mr. Cook worked in the sliced bacon department at Rath Packing Co. for 22 years, retiring in 1962. He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of Cedar Valley Community Church.

Survived by a son, Dodd Cook of Des Moines; three daughters, Gayette (Jeff) Thomas of Montour, Brenna Hersh and Darla (Chris) Orum, both of Waterloo; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Dorothy Uhlenhopp of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by a son, Grant; an infant brother, Buddy; three sisters, Loretta, Margaret and an infant; and a half sister, Betty.

Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, with burial in Waterloo Cemetery with full military honors. Public visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday and an hour before services Tuesday at the funeral chapel.
