WATERLOO - Michael J. Ahles, 58, of Waterloo, died Wednesday May 21, 2008, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home of cancer.

He was born Nov. 3, 1949, in Waterloo, son of John Sr. and Darlene Christensen Ahles. He married Mary Drewelow on June 6, 1970, at St. John's Catholic Church, Waterloo.

Mr. Ahles was employed as a machinist at Chamberlain Manufacturing for 25 years, at Samson Fabrications for 8 1/2 years and Tyson's for 3 1/2 years.

Survived by his wife; a son, Scott of Waterloo; three daughters, Michelle (Troy Smith) Ahles, Theresa Hilmer and Paula (Jeremy) Hinz, all of Waterloo; seven grandchildren, Kelby Hinz, Jacob Hinz, Shawn Boehmer, Joshua Boehmer, Justin Boehmer, Katlain Hilmer and Dylan Hilmer; four brothers; and a sister.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street. Visitation also an hour before services Saturday at the church.
